Boss commemorates two of their most iconic overdrive and distortion pedals with the release of the 40th anniversary SD-1 Super Overdrive and 30th anniversary MT-2 Metal Zone.

Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive 40th Anniversary:

To celebrate 40 years of continuous SD-1 production, Boss has created a limited edition version that’s available throughout 2021. This commemorative pedal features a black body with yellow lettering, gold-capped knobs, and a vintage silver thumbscrew for the battery compartment and comes in a box with a special 40th Anniversary logo.

Since its release in 1981, the workhorse SD-1 Super Overdrive has been the core gain pedal for generations of players across every musical genre. Based around the revolutionary asymmetrical clipping circuit from the OD-1 Overdrive—one of the three original Boss compact pedals from 1977—the SD-1 delivers rich, smooth, and highly musical overdrive tones that continue to inspire guitarists everywhere.

Boss MT-2 Metal Zone 30th Anniversary:

To celebrate 30 years of continuous MT-2 production, they’ve also created a limited edition version that’s available throughout 2021. This commemorative pedal features gray lettering and a vintage silver thumbscrew for the battery compartment and comes in a box with a special 30th Anniversary logo.

Introduced way back in 1991, the iconic MT-2 Metal Zone remains the king of high-gain distortion stomps for guitarists around the world, with over one million sold and counting. Its thick, saturated sound is perfectly suited for metal styles and is also great for playing heavy rhythms and soaring solos in other genres. With the incredibly wide tone-shaping range and ultra-smooth sustain, the multifaceted MT-2 brings an array of rich distortion voices to any musical setting.
